Mayakoba

Imagine being sent on a reward trip if you’re one of the best salespeople in your organization. At Gigamon, that is something to work hard to achieve, especially when the incentive destination is Mayakoba, Mexico. Translated as “village over water,” Mayakoba is a gorgeous luxury resort along Mexico’s storied Mayan Riviera, boasting both jungle and beaches in a beautiful native landscape. The event organizer pulled us in for this year’s trip to create a fully immersive experience.
Each salesperson received a series of three personalized mailers to encourage and help them track their progress as well as coloring tiles to get the entire family excited about the reward trip.
Once complete, the tiles combined to make a large mural designed after Mayakoba, complete with the destination resort, the Riviera, boats used to move around the sprawling resort, and the nearby jungle.
Lucky winners received their official news in a festive gift box. Inside they found a palm leaf pouch holding their itinerary for their trip, a special card with contact information for loved ones at home, a branded fridge magnet, luggage tags, and a letter from the President and CEO.
The Rosewood Mayakoba is build on a lagoon, so guests arrive by boat. While serenaded by musicians, guests retrieved their name tags, bracelets, and VIP invites for special parties for the winning sales people at the very top.
There was no shortage of celebration at this reward event. Every element of the party was designed to make people feel special and looked after.
The invitations to the beach party arrived appropriately themed, together with sun hats, traditional attire, and ready-to-drink branded coconuts to get everyone ready for the night.
The grand finale was a Mayan gala thrown at a cenote, a scenic natural well found on the Yucatán Peninsula. Guests enjoyed food and drinks and entertainment by Mexican circus-style performers.
