Packaging

We love packaging

We love the challenge of creating something that’s original, functional, beautiful and noticeable on a crowded shelf. These days, it’s an even bigger challenge to find the most efficient and earth-friendly way to design a package for a product in addition to all of the other considerations. Typically we design packaging as part of an entire branding system, but we are always excited for new opportunities, especially if they involve fancy chocolates…
Made With Love in Long Beach

Gift Box

An initiative by a small local business to create easy gift packages featuring seasonal, hand crafted, artisanal goods. Inspired by the iconic California surf culture sunset poster, the logo easily translated into stickers that adorn every package.

Zimt

This sweet packaging project for Zimt is 100% compostable with biodegradable plastic to seal in freshness of the cookies. Everything about Zimt, from the family recipe to the environmental packaging, is a labor of love.

Melina’s

Citrus Confections

We developed this mouthwatering package design for a new line of citrus treats from artisan gourmet food manufacturer Melina’s. The lineup included marmalade, jam, fruit preserves, honey, marzipan drops, fruit wafers, and delights. Everything was made from all natural and premium ingredients harvested on small farms in the sunny Kambos region of the Greek Island of Chios. For the packaging, we drew our inspiration from vintage labels and exotic motifs, with elegant typography and a subtle color palette to keep things contemporary.
Melina’s

Oils & Vinegars

Packaging for Melina’s gourmet line of Mediterranean oils and vinegars started with the logo — rendered here as a standout red fabric hangtag that visually pops off the shelf. We echoed the logo shape on their distinctive glass bottle, shaped organically into the glass and produced in Italy from a custom mold. Each oil and vinegar flavor featured a hangtag label that was actually a mini four-page brochure containing product description, ingredient list, and recipe suggestions. The beauty of this label style was its clean look and ability to be used across different bottle shapes and sizes together with the red logo fabric tag.

Sharrows

Coffee Bags

These packaging concepts were developed for Sharrows Cycling Café’s funding campaign. The start-up is developing a national chain aimed at serving top quality coffee drinks and quick-service food to urban bike commuters. We chose energetic greens & blues and sustainably produced materials and products to keep in line with the company’s core values.
Apple

Card Enclosures

Sometimes there are just too many candidates to meet at an event, so Apple’s recruiters have these handy follow-up cards. We left no design detail to chance in meeting the high expectations for this client. The iconic logo was debossed on thick cotton board, and type was letterpress printed. Front and back were duplexed and color-edged in silver. Each pack of 25 cards was wrapped and secured with a label. Only the best for a company known for their attention to detail.

Sutter Home

Pasta Sauces

The clear label, a breakthrough in printing technology at the time, was the key element in transforming the shelf appeal of Sutter Home’s high-end pasta sauces. Shoppers loved being able to see the thick and rich red color of the delicious sauce. Colors on the cap and jar defined each flavor and provide the perfect placement for the brand’s monogram. Clean graphic elements created a standout presence in a very competitive marketplace. This project was executed through Michael Osborne Design.
A&A

Wine Promo

While this wine was presented as a company gift, we designed the bottle with the same approach as one that was vying for attention on the ultra-competitive retail liquor shelf. Wrapping the logo and copy at a 45-degree angle immediately makes you take a second look. Silk-screening directly onto the glass gave the bottle a clean presentation. And the festive silver-and-gold palette says it’s all about celebrating the holidays.
